The University of Akureyri, in collaboration with the University of Iceland, has designed new B.A./B.Ed. study lines for second-language speakers of Icelandic. The program is designed for students with a basic knowledge of Icelandic to facilitate their entrance to studies predominantly taught in Icelandic. It is open for the following disciplines: Pre-school Education, Media Studies, Modern Studies, and Social Sciences. In the first year, the regular BA/B.Ed. program is accompanied by intensive courses of Icelandic as a second language provided by the University of Iceland.
Each program is taught in both Icelandic and English, lasts 4 years and comprises a total of 240 ECTS. All courses are taught online via distance-learning. Language teaching will be online in real-time, 4 times per week at 8.00 am. Students in Media, Modern and Social Science meet once a semester in Akureyri and in the Preschool and Primary Education will meet 2-3 times.
Applications are open from March 2 to June 5, 2024. Teaching will start in the fall 2024.
Application requirements and more information for each study line can be found on behind links above.
