The Rector’s Office attends to the statutory role of the Rector and looks after the interests of the University of Akureyri.
The Rector’s Office supervises matters concerning the joint administration of the University, meetings of the University Council, meetings of the Management Board, annual meeting of the University, and the University Assembly.
Under the Rector’s Office are also the human resource issues of the University, quality considerations and records management, as well as supervision of strategy formulation and follow-up on the strategies of the University.
The Rector’s Office is responsible for the entire operations and administration of the University being in accordance with current laws and regulations and good administrative practices and oversees the regulations of the University. The Rector’s Office oversees the communication of the Rector with the government, communication with domestic and foreign partners, whether it be representatives of companies, institutions or foreign states.
Aside from the above-mentioned, diverse operations are carried out in the Rector’s Office, which consist, for example, in the reception and processing of various enquiries, handling of interview requests, dissemination of information, supervision of committees and work groups under the auspices of the University Council and Rector, supervision of the University’s annual report, supervision of the organisation of annual graduation, supervision of general staff meetings, lectures and other assemblies or events under the auspices of the Rector.
