Rector
Áslaug Ásgeirsdóttir took over the position of Rector of the University of Akureyri on 1 July 2024.
The Rector is Chairman of the University Council, the head of administration of the University and its main representative towards employees and institutions within, as well as outside, the University. The Rector initiates the University Council’s general policy making in all University matters. The Rector is responsible for administering and monitoring all University operations and between meetings of the University Council, the Rector holds the power of decision in all University matters.
Appointments with the Rector are by agreement and are booked through the Rector’s Office.
