The Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences welcomes all to an open seminar about Undergraduate Research and Sustainability Efforts between University of Akureyri and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Dr. Christina Goethel is a former Fulbright Scholar at the University of Akureyri, and current assistant professor at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the United States. Sophia Garms holds a BA in Environmental Studies and currently holds the position of a sustainability fellow at St. Mary‘s College of Maryland.
The Seminar will be held in English and takes place in room M102 and on Zoom.
Dr. Christina Goethel and Sophia Garms will give a presentation on the ongoing research collaborations between UNAK and St. Mary’s College of Maryland (USA). Dr. Goethel will talk about undergraduate research from her time as a Fulbright Fellow in Spring of 2022 that led to the initial collaboration, as well as data, updates, and future plans to maintain connections between the two programs. Sophia will summarize St. Mary’s current programs in sustainability and how UNAK may be able to implement some of those initiatives. Additionally, she will share information she has learned during her visit to UNAK and how she plans to utilize this new information to improve St. Mary’s sustainability efforts.
